The life of a touring musician - with visits to places like Austin, Texas - had left a yearning for a certain type of place..
We wanted to go somewhere that cooked fresh steak burgers on those giant American chrome griddles, and served them on preservative-free buns. Meat from an ‘always-on’ smoker, burning Texas oak. And skinny fries. With dips! And Mexican Coca Cola. And cold beer and crazy wine. With the best veggie options. Where all the sides were delicious, and made in-house. A neighbourhood place that was really into music. And everyone working there was sound…
It was a tall order.
Left with no choice… we opened Dennistoun Bar-B-Que.
We’ve had parties, gigs, power cuts, had to learn DIY and everything else that being in this business can throw at you. We’ve met loads of newborns before they’ve even been home, toasted newly weds and had takeaway ready for people fresh off the plane from their holidays. We’ve been the first meal in countless homes in the neighbourhood, we’ve fed many famous faces, organised foodbank drives, community litter-picks and made up orders for pro-wrestlers, touring musicians, NHS staff, private jets and 60th birthdays in bowling clubs.
We love it all.
We’re family owned and operated, but to us that family includes all our amazing, passionate crew and our network of independent suppliers. Our ethos was always to be a hub for passionate, likeminded characters who like to do things right, and our team have grown into a lovely tight mix from all walks of life.
